Our ancestors were not disappointed

Yet, you are holy. The praises of Israel surround your throne. Our ancestors trusted in you, and you rescued them. You heard their cries for help and saved them. They put their trust in you and were never disappointed. Psalm 22: 3-4 NLT

Were any of your ancestors Christian? How about your great-grandparents? Or even your grandparents? Did you ever talk to them about their faith? Did they ever share any stories with you about how God helped them or rescued them at any point in their lives?

Perhaps your family was not Christian. Hopefully, you are part of a church family or have connections with other long-time Christians. Some time today, give one of them a call and ask them if they have any stories from their own lives when God saved them. Perhaps they had a particular prayer request that was answered. Or found themselves in deep trouble yet were inexplicably saved.

We all need to hear stories of trust from those who have come before us. It makes us realize that we are part of a great cloud of witnesses. And that we too should trust in God.

God, you are holy. The praises surround your throne. Our ancestors trusted in you, and you rescued them. You heard their cries for help and saved them. They put their trust in you and were never disappointed. We shall do the same. In Jesus' name. Amen.
