Praise God!

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your rivers of delight. For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see. Psalm 36: 5-9 NLT

These verses are a praise hymn to God. They don't thank God for a particular action on the psalmist's behalf. These verses aren't full of gratefulness for answered prayer.

Instead, these verses of Psalm 36 describe who God is.

God is as vast as the heavens.

God's faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.

God's righteousness is like a huge mountain range.

God's justice is as bottomless as the ocean depths.

God's care includes both humans and animals.

God's love is precious.

All human beings find shelter in God's wings.

God provides abundance and delight, life and light.

Now it is your turn. How do you describe God? Who is God for you?

God, we praise you for your faithfulness, righteousness, justice, care, and love. You are the almighty God in whom we delight. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
