Let all the world rejoice!

Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise before the lord, for he is coming! He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth. Psalm 96: 11-13 NLT

Just when you think all the praise and glory should come from you, the psalmist turns all our ideas on their heads.

Praise isn't just up to human beings. The whole earth – all of nature – is responsible for praising God. But how does this work? How does the sea shout it's praise? What does it look like when the fields burst with joy? Do trees really rustle with praise for God?

Think about the pounding of the sea on the shore. What better shout can you imagine?

When the crops are blooming or they are ripe, are they not bursting with joy?

When the wind blows fiercely, don't you think the rustling of the trees is just like praise to God?

Today, take sometime to keep your ears and eyes open to all of nature praising God!

Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! In Jesus' name. Amen.
