Why should you be glad?

Jerusalem has heard and rejoiced,
and all the towns of Judah are glad
because of your justice, O Lord! For you, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods. You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He protects the lives of his godly people
and rescues them from the power of the wicked. Light shines on the godly,
and joy on those whose hearts are right. May all who are godly rejoice in the Lord
and praise his holy name! Psalm 97: 8-12 NLT

Why should you be glad?

You should be glad because God is the God of Justice. God rules supreme over the whole earth. God protects the lives of godly people (that would be you) and rescues them from the power of evil. In fact, light and joy shine in the heart of those who follow God. If you are godly, you should rejoice and praise God.

Think for a moment. How has God protected your life lately? How has God shone his light on the lives of those godly loved ones around you? What evil have you seen godly people being rescued from recently?

This is a psalm of joy and celebration, of praise and gratitude. Let us be glad together!

God, I love you and I praise your holy name. You truly are the God of justice and righteousness. You protect and love, show mercy and forgiveness. You seek and seek even when we try to flee far from you. Thank you. I rejoice because you are my God. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
