What if the Lord had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat: What if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us? They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger. The waters would have engulfed us; a torrent would have overwhelmed us. Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives. Praise the Lord, who did not let their teeth tear us apart! We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free! Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124 NLT
Think for a moment about a time in your recent history when you felt God’s hand upon the situation in your life. Maybe it had to do with your employment or income. Perhaps something personal in your family or relationships. It could have even been a spiritual crisis at church.
What if God had not been with you or been on your side? What would have happened to you?
Take for another moment to imagine if God had not done what God did in your life. Where would you be now? How would you feel? What would have been the results?
But God did help you. God was on your side. God helped you escape like a bird from the hunter’s trap. The trap is broken and you are free!
May you face your upcoming challenges trusting in God’s help.
Our help is from you, Lord, who made heaven and earth. We thank you for your help. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
