You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head. He asked you to preserve his life, and you have granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever. Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty. You have endowed him with eternal blessings. You have given him the joy of being in your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling. Psalm 21: 4-7 NLT
Quickly think about what and who you trust.
The government or the laws of your country?
Your job? Your salary? Your benefits? Your employer?
Your spouse/friends/neighbors?
Your car? Home?
How about your health?
Do you trust God? Really? Or are you likely to say you trust God then go about trying to get the same outcome on your own?
In Psalm 21, the king's victory has come about because the king trusted God. It doesn't say that the king trusted his armies or his advisers. The king doesn't trust his looks or his wealth. The king doesn't even trust his own power and influence. It is because he, an anointed king, trusts God.
If an anointed king can do it, we can too.
God, we trust you. Amen.
