The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do. The best equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. Don't count on your warhorse to give you victory – for all its strength, it cannot save you. But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. We depend on the Lord alone to save us. Only he can help us, protecting us like a shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we are trusting in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone. Psalm 33: 13-22 NLT
God made your heart and understands everything you do.
Kind of scary to think about, isn't it?
These verses remind us that we are not to depend on ourselves, our own strengths, our possessions or our own might to solve our problems, create victory in our lives or save us when we are in great need.
God understand us but wants us to depend on God. God wants us to see that it is not by our own will but by God's will that we are saved. God alone can help us.
And when we trust in God, our hearts are happy.
God made your heart and understands everything you do. And God loves you.
God, I depend on you alone to save me. You alone can help me, protecting me like a shield. My heart rejoices in you as I trust in your holy name. Let your unfailing love surround me, Lord, for my hope is in you alone. In Jesus' name. Amen.
