God is our home

Lord, throughout all generations you have been our home! Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God. Psalm 90: 1-2 NLT

They say home is where the heart is. The psalmist says our home is God.

Think for a moment about your home. What to you visualize with the word home? Do you see a house or a piece of property? Do you see people? Family, perhaps?

Interesting that in the Old Testament, home was the land. The land was from God, given by God, the land become holy. God was tied to the land so that home was the land.

Therefore, the psalmist seems to be saying that the land has been their home for many, many years. This is God's special place. God was there at the beginning, God gave birth to the land, the mountains, the earth. God set this place, this home, apart as far back as creation.

God has also set God's people apart, as holy, for many years. God continues to set you and me apart, to make us holy.

God is our home.

God, thank you for being our home. And that is truly where our heart is. In Jesus' name. Amen.
