God still loved them

He handed them over to pagan nations, and they were ruled by those who hated them. Their enemies crushed them and brought them under their cruel power. Again and again he rescued them, but they chose to rebel against him, and they were finally destroyed by their sin. Psalm 106: 41- 43 NLT

Again and again God rescued them but they chose to rebel against him.

Even in God’s anger and disgust, God still tried to rescue them. 

God still helped them. 

God still loved them.

But God’s people just couldn't accept that kind of love. Or were they stupid? Naive? Or just plain hardheaded? Were they too full of themselves and their supposed self-importance that they dismissed God’s help? Did they see God’s help as merely a coincidence? Good karma? A stroke of luck? Or was their a scientific explanation for their rescue? 

Finally, their own sin did them in. Imagine that -- destroyed not by God but by yourself. 

How many times have you ignored God? Rationalized your rescue? Merely forgot about what God has done for you in the past and did your own thing? Allowed your sins to destroy you? 

God still loves you.

God, thank you. Amen.
