Your goodness is so great! You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You have done so much for those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence, far from accusing tongues. Psalm 31: 19-20 NLT
God is so good! In fact, God is more than just plain good – God's goodness is great!
This psalm tells us that God blesses us by providing protection.
That's right – not by giving food, clothing or shelter but by protecting us from harm. I see this harm as from evil (some might even say “Big Red”). Blessing comes in the form of being saved from the devil. Not being saved from suffering but being saved from evil. Accusations and conspiracies are deflected. Those are the blessings the psalmist speaks of in these verses.
